The first thing that comes to mind for most of us who buy and sell online is the shopping cart. Standard shopping cart software allows the visitor to shop in different 'departments' and place items into the virtual 'shopping cart' for eventual purchase on line.

Net2Business® shopping carts may contain such extra features as:
  • "In Place" cart, that does not interrupt shopping
  • Automatic price updates - always!
  • Reports by quantity, time, weight, customer #, or any combination
  • Discounts by quantity, time, weight, customer #, or any combination
  • Exact Shipping by weight from 3 major carriers simultaneously
  • LTL (Less Than Load) Shipping calculated by weight and zip codes
  • Order forms that 'remember' the customer
  • Security that passes independent audits every time
  • "Send a Hint" feature
  • "Recommended With ___________" feature

PayPal was created for amateurs and is most useful for websites that sell only a few items. A Merchant Account is set up between the Merchant and a Processor to allow for the secure movement of funds from credit card payments to the Merchant's bank account. The Processor already has agreements in place with the major credit card companies. A single processor can handle Master Charge and Visa, often Discover Cards and even some smaller names like Diners Club and Kroger credit cards. In general, American Express requires a separate agreement, but is then made available through the same processor.

The credit card companies, through the Processor, have separate agreements with the Merchants. Those agreements and fees are separate from the webmaster's scope of service, but Net2Business® can assist you in the setup process and coordinate access through our secure server to a secure Gateway.

In the beginning days of e-commerce, most abandoned shopping carts could be tracked to the rude shock of having high shipping charges added at the end of the purchase process. Some online merchants solved the problem by averaging their shipping costs, adding ‘handling costs’, and making the combined total the price tag. Then they could offer “Free Shipping”. This method reduced the number of abandoned carts, but it also made the online sale price seem less attractive.

Our more recent shopping carts offer the shopper a Calculate Shipping feature for use at any time. Given the destination zip, our automated software sends out the weight and size and zip code of origin (even if drop-shipped from the manufacturer) and brings back actual shipping costs in 1-5 seconds. Your customer sees the best available price for shipping, whether it is by US Mail, UPS, FedEx or even LTL freight. Furthermore, once the destination zip code has been entered a single time, the best shipping price will be offered for every item considered. Then, at checkout, the purchaser can choose whether to upgrade to expedited shipping, with the prices already calculated.
